I am using a Bluetooth headset and it is set to default in windows. Every other COD games works, even past games like COD2. It is just this game that doesn't work.
First tip. Second, you may want to re-install your game and download ALL the WAW patches (1.7 as of March 2010). If this is going to be running on a laptop, then yes, you may have to disable some sound hardware, play around with your device manager and experiment with different configurations, laptop drivers are still an issue in Windows 7

There's no legal way make the retail version of the game start without putting the disc in, sorry. Buying the game again for the very high Steam price just to play it without a disc would be a waste of money. @oStarZ No, drives make noise, disks spin in the drives.

After rebooting, I went back into COD World at War but only the mouse and keyboard responded. I hunted around the game trying to find a setting to enable the F310, but no luck. Do you know if a controller is even allowed? Thank you. You've been a big help. Steve
Problem is that to run a LAN, the host needs to run 2 instances of the executable but Steam only lets you run one instance (unlike the DVD version). This means that LAN is broken on Steam for CoD WaW. That's a good reason to have it on GOG ! Dec. 2, 2021. report.
